Each day the Ottawa Public Library opens its doors to the people of Ottawa, giving us pleasure, inspiration and hope. It supports our work, instructs us and entertains us. It allows children to have fun and experience the joy of reading. It helps business people and those who want to start careers. It is a free resource open to all.
The Ottawa Public Library has deep roots in the Ottawa Valley. Its main library, 32 branches, mobile and online services are open to each of us, serving our distinct communities and neighbourhoods. A strong public library sustains the entire city. It supports our diversity and individuality while bringing us together.
When you give a gift to the Ottawa Public Library Foundation, your generosity supports a wonderful public library and helps build a strong community.
The Ottawa Public Library’s core funding comes from municipal taxes and covers collections staff, facilities, equipment, technology and programs and services. The provincial government also provides a small annual operating grant to all Ontario public libraries.
But Ottawa is expanding. The ever-growing need for collections, particularly e-resources, new technology, resources for adult literacy and learning, digital and other literacies and programming for cultural services in both French and English places fresh demands on the Ottawa Public Library. The Foundation is committed to helping support these public services. Your donation is needed to sustain these vital services and programs and to ensure that they remain free and accessible to all.
